Open Up

This is the time to open up to others
Stop saying everyone is your sisters and brothers
Live like everyone was so
It takes me awhile to truly open up a lil' slow
But I know I have to go
I have to go and tell you my story
A little bit of where I'm from and my history
I come from a place of middle class means
Where you were allowed to express your dreams
Outwardly or in your creative expression
I had to write this to not keep them guessin'
I'm a Filipino- American Middle child Gemini
Writing comes easily to me with very little try
So I try to make an impact with the talent I'm given
And at the same time make a livin'
I'm into expressing my self in words that rhyme
I know that everything and everyone has their time to shine
This is probably mine
I used to take pride on being on my "grind"
But realized that was just a hip line...
I would use to express the fact that I put hard work in what I believe in
I may put up a front like I'm so self assured
But that would simply be absurd
I have my insecurities just like every other human being
I'm not always 100% happy with how I'm living

A college graduate I am
But my degree can't measure up to what I have planned
I think big and I back it up
I rarely get in a rut
If I do, I pick myself up because my spirit works that way
In social circles I may have a lot to say
May say it or I may not
Just depends on the vibes that I got
This is me in my honest attempt to open up
